You get what you pay for (or maybe a little less)Jan 07, 2009
By Jedi mom Well, it broke within five minutes of my kid receiving it. The nesting "mechanism" that is required to extend and collapse the saber part broke with what I would call "normal" play for a 3 year old, (ie nothing very rough). So, now I have the hilt and all the segments of the light saber, albeit they are all separate pieces and hence the toy is useless. That being said, we have other lightsabers of similar build and they have withstood some serious Jedi action, so I guess it is hit or miss with the quality. If you have low expectations, you should be OK.

Purchased TWICE - bad both timesFeb 18, 2011
By Nikki M. Zurek My son spent his own money on this lightsaber TWICE because he is such an Ahsoka fan - and avid lightsaber collector. Both times the lightsaber blade slung from the handle casing during play on the 1st day. By day 2, the buttons began to pop off and the handle pieces separated. None of his other lightsabers have ever come apart, thus I can only point blame at the manufacturer (Rubies). It is our hope that some other toy company will make an improved Ahsoka lightsaber that is durable, can actually be played with, and perhaps can be engaged in a lightsaber battle. Save your $$$$ - do NOT buy!!

Oh boy, it's badApr 12, 2010
By Stephen H. Poor Flimsy. The blade won't stay in the handle, although unlike some of these other folks, I didn't have the problem of the blade sections coming apart. The hilt itself is very fragile-- like a paper towel tube made of plastic-- and is oversize for a kid's hands. I bought this with low expectations. I love lightsabers and I didn't have a hilt in this style, so I thought I'd try it. I believe I'll try to reinforce the blade in some way and glue it into the hilt. That sould yield an acceptable result.

The Asoka LightsaberJan 14, 2009
By L. Mc Pherson This lightsaber was given to my son on Christmas as a gift. With one quick flip of the wrist the lightsaber was broken by his dad. I contacted buycostumes the next day and the item was replaced with absolutely no problems. The replacement is whole lot stronger. He is very happy!!!

Girls don't get usable lightsabers?Dec 29, 2009
By Cheri Kannarr Wish the grandparents had read the reviews before buying this junky toy. Like most of the other reviewers said, this toy broke within 15 minutes of use by our 8-year old daughter. The tip of the telescoping blade keeps dropping down inside the handle. Dad took it apart twice, but the plastic holding the screws stripped after the second repair. We have at least half a dozen other lightsabers in the house (from $5 "cheap" to $40-50 nicer models) and they've all been much better quality. Yes, this was inexpensive, but even so it shouldn't immediately break. Girls should get Star Wars toys, too!
